2022-2025 LSE Club Financiero Español Scholarship

Marta Guasch Rusiñol

In order to support LSE Scholar Marta Guasch Rusiñol,  the Advanced Education Trust awarded a £48,000 award for Laura's last year of PhD studies at LSE. 


Laura was the receptor of the first LSE Club Financiero Español Scholarship.


From August 2020, Marta is a PhD candidate in economics at the London School of Economics. Her research is supervised by Dr. Ethan ilzetzki, and it is focused on macroeconomics and international finance, including financial crises and financial globalization. She is also teaching assistant of macroeconomics and microeconomics courses at the London School of Economics.


Before joining LSE, she has worked as a research analyst in the Macroeconomics Department of the World Bank and at CaixaBank Research. 


She holds a Master´s degree in Specialized Economic Analysis from the Barcelona School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Sciences in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Law from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Guillermo Uriz Uharte

In order to support University College London Scholar Guillermo Uriz Uharte,  the Advanced Education Trust awarded a £46,000 two-year Sholarship. 


GuiIllermo was the receptor of the first Club Financiero Español & University College London Scholarship.  


Guillermo read his PhD at the Department of Economics of University College of London under the supervision of Professors Imran Rasul and Aureo de Paula.


His research focused on the areas of Industrial Organisation and Labor Economics; and, the impact of the adoption of Information and Communication Technologies in Financial firms and techniques of Network Econometrics to the study of executive compensation and the transmission of firm productivity shocks.


Besides his PhD from UCL, Guillermo holds a Bsc with Distinction in Business and Law by the Public University of Navarra and a Msc in Economics and Finance by CEMFI. 


He has taught courses on Econometrics and Industrial Organisation at University College of London and has experience working in economic consulting.    


Guillermo is currently at Compass Lexecon, a leading Economics Consultancy Firm, that he joined in February 2021.  


Guillermo is a Fellow of Club Financiero Español, City of London.

Laura Castillo Martinez

In order to support LSE Scholar Laura Castillo Martinez,  the Advanced Education Trust awarded a £18,000 award for Laura's last year of PhD studies at LSE. 


Laura was the receptor of the first Club Financiero Español Scholarship.  

 

Laura read her PhD studies at the Department of Economics of the London School of Economics under the supervision of Prof. Silvana Tenreyro and Prof. Ricardo Reis. Her research focused in the areas of International Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics. 


Besides her PhD in Economics at LSE, Laura holds a BSc. with Honors in Economics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and a MSc. with Distinction in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics. 


After her PhD, Laura moved to the United States by the end of summer 2019 for a one year post-doctorate position at the Economics Department of Princeton University. 


She is curently an Assistant Professor at Duke University´s Department of Economics.


Laura is a Fellow of Club Financiero Español, City of London.

Maria del Mar Domenech Palacios

In order to support Cambridge University Scholar Mar Domenech Palacios,  the Advanced Education Trust awarded, in partnership with Cambridge Trust,  a total £71,402 four-year Scholarship.


Mar is the receptor of the first Club Financiero Español Cambridge Scholarship.  


From October 2019 Mar is reading her PhD in Economics at Cambridge University . Her studies are supervised by Dr. Elisa Faraglia and her research interests lie on international macroeconomic risk sharing mechanisms in the context of currency unions.


Mar holds a MPhil in Economic Research from the University of Cambridge, a double degree in Economics and Law at Pompeu Fabra University and a Masters Degree in Specialised Economic Analysis from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics.


She has previously worked for the Macroeconomics Research Department at CaixaBank and, as a intern, in the tax department of Baker & McKenzie and, Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira Law Firms. 


Mar is fluent in Spanish, English, French and, Catalan.
