3rd CFE Scholarship Awards Ceremony

15th September 2022

We had the pleasure and the honour of awarding this year's CFE Scholarship to two exceptional Spanish students at the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics, as follows:

 

- Club Financiero Español, City of London - London School of Economics PhD Scholarship

4-year scholarship 

awarded to Marta Guasch Rusiñol.

- Club Financiero Español Cambridge Scholarship

1-year extension / 4-year scholarship

awarded to Maria del Mar Domenech Palacios

The ceremony took place at the Spanish Ambassador's Residence in Belgrave Square, London, on Thursday, the 15th of September 2022

 

His Excellency the Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, and don Rodrigo Rodriguez and don Francisco Moreno as representatives of the Board of Trustees of Club Financiero Español, together with several other Fellows of the Club, the Scholars, family and friends, and representatives of the London School of Economics attended the event.

 

The evening continued with a reception at the residency of His Excellency, into the late hours.

Club Financiero Español continues its tradition of celebrating the CFE’s events at the most famous London member clubs, this year the venue will be at the Oriental Club, one of London’s most prestigious Club's and indeed the location where Club Financiero Español was established in the Christmas of 2013. 

We are looking forward to receiving Fellows and Friends at this must event in the London's social agenda.

This conference is to be dedicated to review the real economic, political and social impact of the Euro in the Spanish economy and its people. 

Laura Castillo PhD, and CFE Scholar, will lead the discussion with her main area of research.

2ND CLUB FINANCIERO SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CEREMONY

Celebrating Advanced Education Trust Scholarships, we had the pleasure and the honour of awarding  two Club Financiero Scholarship awards to two exceptional Spanish students at the best British Universities; on this occasion at Cambridge University and University College London. 

The Scholarships are as follows: 

1.       Club Financiero Español Cambridge Scholarship, 3 years scholarship awarded to Maria del Mar Domenech Palacios.

2.       Club Financiero Español & University College London Scholarship, 2 years scholarship awarded to Guillermo Uriz Uharte.

 

The ceremony was celebrated at the Spanish Ambassador's Residence in Belgrave Square, London this coming Wednesday the 29th of May.  

 

His Excellency the Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Lord Daniel Brennan of Bibury, Don Paco Ybarra, as representatives of the Non-Executive Board of Club Financiero Español, Fellows of Club Financiero Español, and representatives from Cambridge Trust and University College London, the Scholars, family and friends, attended the evening. 

 

The evening continued with a reception at the residency of His Excellency, into the late hours.

FINTECHS and BANKS

As part of its educational interests, CFE Fellows and Friends of the Advanced Educational Trust will share their experiences with LSE MBA students on building their companies, and how do these fintechs succesfully compete against Banks in London and beyond.  

LSE Careers and the LSE Students’ Union FinTech Society are delighted to welcome Club Financiero Español to the School for an exciting Fintech panel discussion on Tuesday 26 March.

The event will be open to LSE students and a few external guests.

Location: LSE Old Building, Houghton St, London WC2A 2AE for the event from 6pm, for a 6.30pm start.

As panellists we are counting on:

Different Entrepeneurs will share their experiences with LSE students on a career in Fintechs and competiton against Banks
Irene Lozano, Secretary of State for a Global Spain

Hosted by the Spanish Ambassador in the United Kingdom,the Trustees of Advanced Education Trust, among other members of the Spanish society in the United Kingdom, shared their views on ways opf improving Spain's position with a Global outlook and with the Secretary of State. 

The event was celebrated as a working breakfast with Irene Lozano, Secretary of State for a Global Spain.

1ST CFE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CEREMONY

Celebrating Advanced Education Trust Scholarships, we had the honour of awarding the First Club Financiero Scholarship at the Spanish Ambassador Residence in Belgrave Square, London. His Excellency the Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Lord Daniel Brennan of Bibury, as representatives of the Non-Executive Board of Club Financiero Español, and the President of AET Board of Trustees, Miguel Alonso Capelo, awarded the Scholarship to AET first Scholar Laura Castillo Martinez. Over 80 Fellows and friends of Club Financiero Español joined us for the evening. This representation  included attendants from the London School of Economics, Cambridge Trust, University College London, London Business School, Oxford University and senior figures of the Spanish Financial Industry. The evening was continued with a reception at the residency of His Excellency, that went well into the late evening hours.

Once again the Trustees and Fellows of Club Financiero Español would like to thank you all the attendants for their generous contributions to the Advanced Education Trust Scholarship Endowment.  

All proceeds of the evening were dedicated to support CFE's Scholarship Endowment with the Advanced Education Trust; our registered UK Charity.  This year the Club booked in exclusivity Hispania facilities at the heart of the City of London. The evening celebrations began at 19:30 with a champagne reception, followed by a sit-down dinner by the outstanding chefs of Hispania, until the early hours of Sunday morning. ADDITIONAL DETAILS -

Javier Santiso is the author of “España 3.0” (Ed. Planeta, 2015), serial investor in startups / venture capital and founder of Club Mundi. After the presentation of the book there will be a panel and Q&A with the participation of  Julio Bruno, CEO of Time Out, London.

We are pleased to confirm the details of the upcoming Summer Ball.  Continuing with our tradition of celebrating the CFE’s events at member clubs, this year the venue will be one of London’s most prestigious, the In & Out. Rodrigo Rodriguez, our fellow and member  of the board of Trustees, will kindly be our host at the club. The evening’s festivities will open with a reception in the Club’s courtyard, followed by a standing dinner. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, so please do extend the invitation to other friends.  All profits from the Summer Ball will be fully allocated to the CFE Scholarships Fund. CFE Conferences: "Daniel Beunza: The Role of Bank Culture in Financial Reform"
  • Following the 2008-2010 crisis, the conference examines the notion of Bank culture and its significance in the wake of current efforts to reform the City of London and its financial sector. It is based on 16 years of ethnographic research in various Wall Street and City of London banks.

  • Professor Beunza and the panelists will cover three key questions: How would a positive bank culture look like? Is it viable? How reform can be achieved in City of London banks?

  • Professor Daniel Beunza is an Assistant  Professor at the  Department of Management at The London School of Economics and Social Sciences .
