The current membership holder, Mr Marco Martínez, was appointed as Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in August 2021.

He became a member of the Spanish Foreign Service in 1983. During his diplomatic career, he was posted to Pakistan, Nicaragua, Australia, Turkey and South Africa. He was Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo from 2003 to 2006 and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Spain to the USA 2006-2010. He was Ambassador- Deputy Permanent Representative of Spain to the EU from 2010 to 2015.

Mr José Pascual Marco was named in 2015 Director General for Cultural Policy and Cultural Industries and the Book Sector in the Spanish Ministry for Education, Culture and Sport. From 2017 to 2021 he was Director General for Coordination of EU Common Policies and General Affairs at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.

HE Mr Bastarreche, was appointed as Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in March 2017.

He began his diplomatic career in 1976 as Counsellor at the Embassy of Spain in Romania and after joining the State Secretariat for the European Communities, his diplomatic life has been linked to the European Institutions as Deputy Permanent Representative of Spain to the European Communities, Secretary General of Foreign Policy and then Secretary General of European Affairs.

In September 2002, he was appointed Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Spain to the European Union (2002-2010) and Ambassador of Spain to France (2010-2014) and Head of Public Affairs Spain at Airbus (2014-2017).

Lord Brennan QC has been a Queen’s Counsel since 1985. Lord Brennan QC, as an appointed House of Lords life peer, is active in politics as well as dedicating time to his incredibly varied legal practice.

He is a non-executive director of several companies in the United Kingdom and abroad. He is Chairman Emeritus of the Caux Round Table on business ethics, and is involved in corporate governance standards and reforms.

Ricardo is Managing Director and Head of Global Finance at BBVA.

He was COO of BBVA Corporate and Investment Banking from 2013 to 2015. Previously, he was Head of BBVA Global Markets and Head of BBVA Corporate and Investment Banking Europe from 2006 to 2013. With more than 25 years of experience in investment banking, he is member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe, AFME.

Professor Lastra is the Sir John Lubbock Chair in Banking Law and Chair of the Institute of Banking and Finance Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS), Queen Mary University of London.

She is a member of the Monetary Committee of the International Law Association (MOCOMILA), founding member of the European Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee (ESFRC), research associate of the Financial Markets Group of the LSE, member of the European Banking Institute (EBI) and member of the European Law Institute (ELI).

She has served as a consultant to the IMF, the ECB, the World Bank, the ADB, United Nations (UNCTAD) and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; an Assistant Professor at Columbia University .

Paco Ybarra is CEO of Citi’s Institutional Clients Group, which comprises Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory, Markets and Securities Services, Treasury and Trade Solutions and the Citi Private Bank. He is a member of the Executive Management Team, Chairman of the Institutional Clients Group Risk Management Committee and serves as a Member of the Board of Grupo Financiero Citibanamex, S.A. de C.V.

He holds a bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Valencia and an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He lives in London.

HE Mr. Trillo-Figueroa, was appointed as Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in May 2012.

Through his dilated career His Excellency has been legal counsel to the 'Spanish State Council' and the Spanish Royal Armada.

He was first elected as a Member of the Spanish Parliament in 1987, and has held positions as the Speaker of the Spanish Parliament (1996-2000) and, Senior Minister - Secretary of State for Defence (2000-2004).

administers the activities of the Charity and manages the relationships with external entities. 

 

The Board of Trustees counts with the support of an Advisory and non-executive Board formed by independent senior members.  The Non-Executive Board is currently in its latest stages of formation, and it is composed by members of the most solid track-record in the  promotion of the economic development of Spain and her people.
